Crusheen youth club has been facilitation in the development
of the young people of Crusheen and Ballinruan for decades and has had
numerous excellent leaders throughout its life-span. At the moment,
it is closed for the summer but plans to re-open it are underway. The
club usually runs on Friday nights from 8pm to 10pm and takes place
in the Crusheen Community Centre, which is located at the end of the
lane between Clondrina housing estate and Crusheen National School.
Young people who wish to attend the youth club can do so, if they are
students at secondary school. Last years leaders were:
Michael Dillon – activity leader
Jennifer Cunningham – activity leader
Cathal Dillon – leader in charge.
Each leader received special activity training once they are deemed
suitable for the job as youth club leader by the Clare Youth Service.
As the leaders progress within the club, they can become senior leaders
and training is readily available for leaders by the CYS. New leaders
are always welcome and anyone interested may contact Cathal Dillon

Members of the club over the years have had opportunities
to broaden their horizons and visit countries such as Germany, Finland
and Spain on special youth exchange programmes, set up by Flan Spaight,
a highly-qualified youth and community worker. There exchanges are on
going and youth club members can have wonderful experiences and meet
loads of new friends whilst on them. Club night activities include fun
games of all kinds run by the leaders, indoor soccer, relay races, board
games, pool, table tennis and other personal and social development
activities. Outings on the Clare Youth Service calendar can also be
attended by the club and teams can be entered in youth club competitions
throughout the year also. Keep posted for youth club updates.
